Friends hard at work planting in 2009, Smuggler's Cove. |
Planting at Bream Head Scenic Reserve this year will take place on Sunday 27 June, and 4 July if we don't get all the plants into the ground on the 27th.
We will meet at the Urquhart Bay car park at 9.00 am or if you come later just walk towards the gun emplacements and you will see us hard at work. We'll be planting mainly one year old manuka seedlings in root trainers , some pohutukawa and some young harakeke - the seeds of which were collected from Bream Head. Planting will finish at 12.00 noon.
The planting will be going ahead even if it is raining. If the weather is so bad that it is considered dangerous (very unlikely) we'll postpone the planting to Sunday 4 July. You can check to see whether the planting is going ahead by ringing Wendy Holland on 09 434 0934 before 8 am on the planting day.
Wear warm clothing and gum boots or stout footwear and pack your raincoat. Bring water or something to drink. Morning tea will be provided at 10.30 am.
We’ll have some spades, but bring your own favourite if you can.
If you have any questions please get in touch with Wendy Holland on 09 434 0934 (after work) .
Please pass this on to anyone interested. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Ka kite ano,
Wendy Holland.
